About Light The Night
Light The Night is an annual fundraising event hosted by Blood Cancer United (formerly The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) to support people affected by blood cancers and to raise awareness of the need for research and patient services. Participants across the country gather for an evening walk, carrying illuminated lanterns as symbols of hope, support, and remembrance—white lanterns for survivors, red for supporters, and gold to honor loved ones lost to blood cancer. The event aims to bring light to the darkness of cancer by uniting communities to celebrate those fighting the disease, honor those who have passed, and create a shared experience of compassion and solidarity. Funds raised during Light The Night benefit research to find blood cancer cures and help ensure access to treatments for patients, advancing the mission of Blood Cancer United.

At Balderston Auto Group, our support for Blood Cancer United (formerly the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) is deeply personal. We proudly sponsor and participate in the Light The Night event to honor Mary Lou Light, the beloved aunt of our Executive Management Team, who lost her courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2017. Cancer has also touched many members of our Balderston Auto Group family — from an employee who has completed treatment, to another currently undergoing care, and even a team member’s spouse who continues to fight. These experiences have left a lasting impact on our team, and they serve as a constant reminder of why supporting this cause is so important. Each year, we walk, fundraise, and stand together — for Mary Lou, for our team, and for everyone affected by blood cancer — demonstrating our commitment to hope, awareness, and the fight against this disease.
